Want to write a testimony? |
Generation to Generation.Twenty six years ago Nick & I came to Brig. We only had James and Sarah at the time, Joe was still to be born. We had been Christians for 4 years. All of the wider family were unsaved but we were praying for them. Even though our faith was strong there were some in the family that I could never imagine becoming Christians ( My Dad for one!! ). We had to wait another three years until one day Nick led my Dad to the Lord while they were working together. Within a week my Mum had also become a Christian as she had seen the amazing change in my Dad, we were elated and praising God. My brother-in -law Dave said if my Dad could become a Christian there was hope for all of them, little did he know that his words were prophetic. At the time we started a bible study group for non believers at Brig, we used to take turns in hosting the group. I invited my sister-in -law Karen to come along, she tells me I tricked her saying it was just for coffee and a chat, ( As if I would!!! ) Well anyway within a few weeks Karen had become a Christian, but she was then worried about Dave, Nick's brother, so we continued to pray for him, joined by Karen. A few weeks later, on my Niece's ( Laura ) birthday, he became a Christian led to the Lord by his brother ( Just like in the bible Simon called Peter and Andrew ). Over the next ten or so years we saw all of our children, James, Sarah and Joe, and my niece Laura and nephew Ben give their lives to the Lord, and go on to serve him in adulthood. We were a family in the Lord, but we still had not seen Nick's mum Alice soften in any way. We were all on the case now. Ten years ago, two years before James & Susanna were married, Alice became a Christian. It was a wonderful moment for all of us. Alice died last October and went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Those of you at Brig will remember how difficult it was at the end, but God is good and knew, enough was enough, and took her home. Having been away from Brig for two years we are so thrilled to be back with you all again, and look forward to seeing our Grandson Joshua come to know the Lord at Brig too. Nick & I feel very blessed as we have a wonderful son & daughter-in-law in Neil and Susanna, and so many great friends at Brig who have been a great strength to us over the years. We have seen three wonderful family weddings at Brig and still have two to go ( no pressure, Joe & Ben ). God is Faithful always, his love goes on from generation to generation, Praise his Holy Name. So if you are praying for family be encouraged it can take a while but God is Faithful. Lorraine June 2007 |
