Number 36The church has owned No 36 Brigadier Hill for the last 10 years or so. It is the shop next door to the church building, remembered by locals as the old Off Licence. During the summer of 2006 much work took place to give both the inside and outside of the building a facelift. A team of dedicated and talented artists could be seen on many days on scaffold or bended knee working on a beautiful mosaic over the whole of the exterior. The mosaic depicts imagery taken from the Bible including that of the River of Life flowing out bringing healing and life wherever it goes (see Revelation chapter 22 and Ezekiel 47). Our prayer and trust is that No 36 will “do what it says on the tin” and that as we do what we can to serve our community through it, people will be touched with God’s life-giving love and power. 25 Charming Young People...On Thursday 16th April a team led by Carol and Ernie Chamberlain had the pleasure of entertaining a group of about 25 charming young people from the Inclusion Project that is held regularly up the hill at the Tenants Association Hall. Despite the rain that poured down outside making it impossible to use the patio for games, a really good time was had by all. The craft activity of glass painting was calming and pleasurable and during this much chatting and befriending took place. The drinks and cakes that followed went down well. There was then a Bible story during which a puppet interjected with jokes that made the young people roar with laughter. Finally, many seemed to get particular enjoyment from singing a song with actions about the Bible story. If our guests enjoyed the morning half as much as the team did, then this was a lovely and successful event. We hope to do more! |
